Meet Julia
Julia Alderman is an animator and painter based in Philadelphia and Baltimore. Her art practice is driven by the tactile qualities of material, using texture as both a visual and emotional language. She explores themes of judgment, mental health, cultural interpretation, and mortality through a lens of ambiguity and disorientation. Drawing on imagery of decay and transformation, her work invites viewers to confront discomfort, question perception, and find meaning within uncertainty.
When Julia is not painting or animating, she finds herself lazing around with her cat Andre, listening to music, and writing poetry. One of Julia's biggest passions includes traveling and has visited over 8 countries, highlighting her time spent living abroad in Venice, Italy studying the 60th Biennale.
